* Indications: Coaprovel is used in the treatment of high blood pressure (essential hypertension), when treatment
with irbesartan or hydrochlorothiazide alone did not provide adequate control of blood pressure.
* Psology and method of administration:
– Coaprovel is usually prescribed by physician when previous treatment for high blood pressure did not provide
appropriate blood pressure reduction. Doctor will instruct patient how to switch from the previous treatment to
Coaprovel.
– The usual dose of Coaprovel is one tablet a day. The maximum blood pressure lowering effect should be reached
6 – 8 weeks after beginning treatment.
– The tablets should be swallowed with a sufficient amount of fluid (e.g. one glass of water). Coaprovel can be taken
with or without food. Take your daily dose at about same time each day. It is important that you continue to take
Coaprovel until your doctor tells you otherwise.
– If you accidently miss a daily dose, just take the next dose as normal. Do not take double dose to make up for
a forgotten dose.
– Coaprovel should not be given to children (<18 years). * Precautions: # There are certain conditions that you may have, or have had, which require special care before or while taking CoAprovel. Therefore, before taking this medicine, you should have told your doctor if you suffer from: – excessive vomiting or diarrhoea, – kidney problems, including kidney transplantation, – heart problems, – liver problems, – diabetes or – lupus erythematosus (also known as lupus or SLE). # You should also tell your doctor if your are on a low-salt diet. # Signs such as abnormal thirst, dry mouth, general weakness, drowsiness, muscle pain or cramps, nausea, vomiting, or an abnormally fast heart beat may indicate an excessive effect of hydrochlorothiazide (contained in CoAprovel) for which you should consult your doctor. # If you are to undergo any surgery or receive anaesthetics, you should make sure the doctor knows that you are taking CoAprovel tablets. # Hydrochlorothiazide contained in this medication could produce a positive result in an anti-doping test. * Contraindications: – Allergy to irbesartan and hydrochlorothiazide, or to any other ingredients in CoAprovel or to sulfonamide-derived medicines, – Second or third trimester pregnancy, – Breast-feeding. – Severe liver or kidney problems, – Difficulty in producing urine, – A condition which is associated with persistently high calcium or low potassium levels in blood. * Prescription only medicine – Liste I. Medicinal product subject to medical prescription. For oral use. * Read the package leaflet before use. Keep to the prescribed doses. * Do not store above 30 degrees C. Store in the original package.
