** Indications:
Hepatic Encephalopathy:
GASTROBIOTIC (Rifaximin 550 mg) Tablets are indicated for the reduction in the risk of recurrence of episodes of overt hepatic encephalopathy (HE) in patients (>/= 18 years of age) with advanced liver disease.
In the pivotal study, 91% of the patients were using concomitant lactulose. (Differences in treatment effect in patients using lactulose concomitantly with rifaximin couldn’t be assessed).
Consideration should be given to official guidance on the appropriate use of antibacterial agents.
There is increased systemic exposure in patients with more severe hepatic dysfunction.

** To be used under medical supervision.
