** S.M.R (Tizanidine) 2 mg 20 Tablets. Muscle Relaxant.
** Composition:
Each tablet Contains:
Tizanidine hydrochloride 2.28 mg eq. to Tizanidine 2 mg
** Indications and uses:
1- Painful muscle spasms.
2- Static and functional disorders of the spine (cervical and lumbar syndromes).
3- Following surgery, e.g. for herniated intervertebral disc or for osteoarthritis of the hip.
4- Spasticity due to neurological disorders e..g multiple sclerosis, chronic myelopathy, degenerative diseases of the spinal cord, cerebrovascular accidents and cerebral palsy.
5- Reduces resistance to passive movements.
6- Improves voluntary strength.
** Dosage:
Depends largely on the case:
1- Painful muscle spasms: 1-2 tablets 3 times daily.
2- Spasticity due to neurological disorders: the initial dose should not exceed 1 tablet 3 times daily. It may be increased stepwise within half to one week intervals by 1 or 2 tablets only. The optimum response is 12 to 24 mg tinazidine daily or 6-12 tablets of drug in a divided and equal dose and time between. In any case daily dose must not exceed the former range and strictly according to the doctor regulations concerning dosage and treatment time.
** Precautions:
This drug should be administered with caution for patients with renal insufficiency and impaired liver function. Also patients receiving antihypertensive therapy. The initial dose is 1 tablet daily only it can be increased every gradually depending on case, efficacy and tolerability.
** Store at temperature not exceeding 30 degrees C, in a dry place.
