THIOPENTAL SODIUM 500 mg. General Anaesthetic. For IV injection.
* Prior to reconstitution: store between 15 – 30 degrees C.
* Preparation of parenteral solution:
& & – Reconstitute only with sterile water for injection, sodium chloride 0.9%, or dextrose 5% in water to get
& & solutions in the 2% to 5% range.
& & – Reconstitute with sodium chloride 0.9%, or with dextrose 5% in water to get solutions in the 0.2% or 0.4%.
& & – Sterile water for injection should not be used to prepare Thiopental solutions less than 2%.
& & – Freshly prepare parenteral solutions and use promptly; discard unused portions after 24 hours.
& & – Solutions containing a precipitate should not be administered.
* To be used under medical supervision.
